European Football: Barcelona suffers surprise defeat against Real Sociedad | European club football

Barcelona suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat in La Liga Real company Their seven-game winning streak in all competitions ended on Sunday when Sheraldo Becker scored in the first half for the Basque side. In Italy, Roma have fired Ivan Juric as coach after just 12 games. The Croatian became the club’s second head coach after Daniele De Rossi, who was sacked this season following the team’s 3-2 home defeat Bologna their fourth defeat in their last five league games on Sunday, leaving them 12th in the Serie A table.

Roma appointed Juric as their third coach in eight months in September after sacking club legend De Rossi. Juric, who previously played for Torino, Verona and Genoa, started with home wins against Udinese and Venezia in the league and a 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League. However, his good run ended there and Roma won just once in their next six league games.

Ligue 1 team Nantes have reacted with “deep outrage” after Wales international Sorba Thomas was subjected to racist abuse on social media. Thomas, who is on loan from Huddersfield, came on as a late substitute in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Lens before being substituted himself.

A club statement published on Sunday said: “FC Nantes expresses its deep outrage at the racist insults to which Sorba Thomas was subjected on social networks after the game against RC Lens.” The club would like to fully support its player .”

Thomas has scored one goal in 11 games this season for Nantes, who took seven points from their first three games at the start of their campaign but have won three in their last eight games.
