Fayette County father charged with tampering with evidence in death of his 2-year-old son

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A father has been charged after authorities say his girlfriend killed his 2-year-old son in Fayette County.

According to court documents, Brett Bissett faces multiple charges, including tampering with evidence, obstructing the administration of justice and hindering apprehension.

Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele announced Friday that Bissett’s girlfriend, 30-year-old Brianna Bloyer has been charged with murder in the death of two-year-old Bentley Myers. At the time, Aubele said more charges were expected.

The prosecutor said Myers died in August as a result of “severe physical trauma” inflicted by Bloyer at a home on Old Lake Lynn Road in Springhill Township.

Police said the boy was taken to the hospital on Aug. 16 after someone came to Bloyer’s home and found the toddler unconscious, injured and blue in the face. That person told police that Bloyer did not call 911, even though the 2-year-old did not appear to be breathing.

At the hospital, doctors found that he had multiple bruises and internal injuries, according to police. Investigators said he was declared brain dead and died on August 19. Doctors said the cause of death was cardiac arrest due to a traumatic brain injury.

When police interviewed Bloyer, she said the boy had been staying with her for about two weeks. She said when she woke the boy on the morning of August 16, he stumbled and later collapsed.

When police interviewed Bissett, investigators said he didn’t know where his son’s injuries came from and that he first saw the bruises at the hospital. He said he had seen Bloyer stressed and frustrated over the toddler before.

This is the second case in Fayette County in two weeks involving serious child abuse resulting in death. Last month, Emmanuel Dennis And Celia Nunn were accused Killing of Margaret Nunn.

Aubele said he and Fayette County will not tolerate such cases.

“Unfortunately, you know, we can’t be in the house with someone all the time, but I can assure the public that we will provide the two things we can, which are investigations and consequences,” Aubele told KDKA. TV on Friday.

Both Bloyer and Bissett have been denied bail and are being held in the Fayette County Jail.
