Firefighters extinguish 1-acre hillside brush fire near mansions in Pacific Palisades

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. (KABC) — A 1-acre brush fire broke out on a hillside near a row of multimillion-dollar homes in Pacific Palisades on Wednesday morning, prompting a rapid response from more than 60 firefighters on the ground and in the air.

The slow-moving fire broke out before 10 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Palisades Drive, north of Sunset Boulevard. Video from AIR7 showed Los Angeles Fire Department helicopters dropping water at the scene of the accident.

No injuries or structural damage were initially reported.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m., a line of firefighters was seen marching up the hillside to battle the flames.

No evacuation orders were issued in connection with the fire. Originally an area of ​​5 acres was given before the area was revised downwards.

According to the LAFD, firefighters had stopped the advance of the flames by 11 a.m.

“Due to the steep terrain and the work required to carry out a clean-up operation, all forces will remain on site,” the fire department said in a statement.

The cause of the fire was unknown.
