Five dead when plane crashes through airport wall and bursts into flames after take-off: “It’s just shocking”

A small jet reportedly crashed through an airport wall and into a car during an aborted takeoff at an Arizona airport, killing all five people on board and bringing traffic to a standstill for hours.

Smoke rose from the mangled car and the plane’s shattered fuselage as they burned on a street outside Falcon Field Airport in Mesa after 4:40 p.m., CNN reported.

“He went through this depression, he went past the road through the metal fence they have and, I think, through some concrete walls,” eyewitness Joshua Golabi, a pilot, told the outlet.

“We were just about to get on our plane and take off when we heard a bang and saw a cloud of smoke,” he said. “It is simply irritating and reminds all pilots to always fly and maneuver as safely as possible.”

Authorities have not identified the five victims on the Honda HA-420 business jet.

It was not clear whether anyone in the car was injured.

“Our community suffered a tragic loss this afternoon,” said Marrisa Ramirez-Ramos, spokeswoman for the Mesa Fire and Medical Department

“We had a plane that took off from Falcon Field Airport in Mesa and upon takeoff crashed into a single vehicle on Greenfield Road,” Ramirez-Ramos told Fox affiliate KSAZ-TV on Wednesday.
