Florida clarifies Todd Golden’s status for Monday’s game against Grambling State

Todd Golden will officiate Florida’s men’s basketball game against Grambling State on Monday night, the school’s athletic association confirmed in a brief statement Sunday.

“Todd Golden’s status as UF men’s basketball coach has not changed,” the statement said. “He will referee the game on Monday night.”

On Friday, it was reported that Golden was the focus of a Title IX investigation into the school over allegations that he sexually harassed numerous female students. The investigation was reportedly launched on September 27 but only came to light after an article was published in the school’s student newspaper on Friday.

Golden, 39, released his own statement Saturday saying he was considering legal action against unknown parties. He stopped short of publicly denying the specific allegations, including claims that he sent photos and videos of his genitals to women, made unwanted sexual advances on Instagram and asked for sexual favors. He is also accused of photographing women without their consent, then sending the images to them, and “showing up at places where he knew the women would be.”

Florida (2-0) hosts Grambling State (1-1) on Monday at 6 p.m. Golden is in his third season with the Gators, whom he coached to a 24-10 record and an NCAA Tournament berth in 2023-24.
