Florida’s Todd Golden will take over as coach on Monday following a Title IX complaint

Florida men’s basketball coach Todd Golden, who is under an academic investigation, will continue to lead the Gators at Monday’s home game against Grambling State, a spokesman told ESPN on Sunday.

“Todd Golden’s status as UF men’s basketball coach has not changed,” a University Athletic Association spokesman said. “He will referee the game on Monday night.”

On Friday, a Title IX complaint revealed that the university is investigating Golden over allegations of sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, stalking and cyberstalking by multiple women. The complaint was filed on Sept. 27 and alleges Golden directed this behavior toward both current and former Florida students.

The complaint, a copy of which was obtained by ESPN, includes allegations that Golden sent photos and videos of his genitals, made unwanted sexual advances on Instagram and asked for sexual favors.

On several occasions, Golden is said to have taken photos of women walking or driving – or of their cars in various locations – and then sent them to the subjects of the photos. He also allegedly showed up at locations where he knew the women would be, according to the Title IX complaint.

Golden released a statement Saturday acknowledging the school’s investigation and saying he was considering “assault allegations.”

“Over the last month, I have actively participated in an ongoing school investigation and respected its confidentiality,” Golden said in a statement posted on X. “I recently got engaged.” [attorney] Ken Turkel to advise me regarding my ability to pursue defamation claims while this confidential investigation is ongoing.

“My family and I appreciate the support we have received and remain confident that the university will continue its efforts to properly complete the review.”

Florida hired Golden in 2022 to replace Mike White, initially giving Golden a six-year, $18 million contract. Golden and the university agreed to a two-year extension in March that ties him to the school through the 2029-30 season.

Prior to arriving at Florida, Golden was San Francisco’s coach for three seasons, leading the Dons to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1998 in 2022. Golden also served as an assistant to Kyle Smith in San Francisco for three seasons after assisting for two seasons had apiece at Auburn and Columbia.
