Galatasaray vs Tottenham Hotspur LIVE

Reckless OSIMHEN punishes sloppy spurs to hand POSTECOGLOU their first European defeat

Tottenham Hotspur missed the chance to top the UEFA Europa League table as they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Galatasaray at RAMS Park.

Ange Postecoglou’s side were so often masters of their own defeat that on-loan Napoli striker Victor Osimhen scored a brace to complement Yunus Akgun’s stunning opener.

Teenager Will Lankshear scored his first goal for the senior team but was then sent off for a second bookable offense and Dominic Solanke immediately caused a stir from the substitutes’ bench when he halved the deficit with a delicate back-heel shot from Pedro Porro and which kept Spurs within reach.

However, the visitors repeatedly came under enormous pressure from the loud home team, who whistled furiously to force out mistakes.

The inexperienced Spurs side, which made seven changes following Sunday’s 4-1 win over Aston Villa, continued to be plagued by errors as their insistence on playing out from the back was penalized twice but it should have should be more.

The north London outfit drop to fifth in the table as a result of the defeat and will need to bounce back quickly with tricky tests against Roma and Rangers looming closely.

Gala are now at the top with ten points – at least temporarily – and will next travel to AZ Alkmaar.
