Gas leak closes Northville voting precinct on Election Day

One of Northville’s two voting precincts is closed on Election Day due to a gas leak.

The city reported around 12:30 p.m. that Precinct 1 at the Community Center on Main Street was closed for voting. Voters who normally go to this district should go to Hillside Middle School to cast their ballot until the leak is fixed.

Consumers Energy is on site to address the gas leak.

How to view a sample ballot

All voters in Michigan will decide the next president and who will fill Debbie Stabenow’s seat in the U.S. Senate.

Beyond these two races, in which everyone participates, voters will also participate in numerous local elections. Residents in Oakland County, for example, choose a parking mileage number that they can preview before voting.

Visit this link and then enter the election (State General – 11/5/2024), your county, your jurisdiction, and your district to see the exact ballot you will be voting on.

Postal voting on election day

If you still haven’t returned your mail-in ballot, you can also drop it off at your polling place, drop it in a mailbox, or drop it off at your clerk’s office by 8 p.m

Here’s how to track your mail-in ballot.

Spoiling a postal vote

Voters who have already cast their ballot can no longer change their vote. However, voters have the option of using their mail-in ballots that they have not cast at their polling station. Bring your ballot with you when you go to the polls and let poll workers know that you want to spoil the ballot and vote in person.

Voters who have not cast their mail-in ballot but are unable to return it must sign a statement certifying that the ballot was lost or destroyed.
