GBI is investigating the shooting death of a 17-year-old

CAMILLA – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is seeking information in the investigation into the death of a 17-year-old from Georgia.

At the request of Camilla Police, GBI agents are investigating the death of 17-year-old Kelvin Church of Camilla, Georgia.

On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at approximately 12:00 p.m., Church was shot at the intersection of Furlow Street and Jester Street in Camilla, Georgia. Church was taken to a local hospital.

On November 5, 2024, Church died as a result of the shooting.

An autopsy will be performed at the GBI Crime Lab. So far there have been no arrests.

This investigation is active and ongoing. Once the investigation is complete, the file will be turned over to the South Georgia District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
