Halftime Update: New Orleans Saints 17, Atlanta Falcons 7

The New Orleans Saints, playing for the first time under interim coach Darren Rizzi and trying to end a seven-game losing streak, grabbed a 17-7 halftime lead over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday at Caesars Superdome.

The Saints (2-7), who fired head coach Dennis Allen on Monday, went up 10 with a 38-yard field goal and a 40-yard touchdown pass from Derek Carr to Marquez Valdes-Scantling, his first :0 lead touchdown with the Saints. After the Falcons (6-3) scored on a 1-yard touchdown run by Bijan Robinson on fourth-and-goal in the second quarter, Carr and Valdes-Scantling connected on a 67-yard completion to give the Saints the win First and goal. Atlanta’s Younghoe Koo missed two field goal attempts, one from 53 yards and one from 35 yards, which was blocked by John Ridgeway.

An 88-yard Saints touchdown reception by Taysom Hill was taken off the board on their first possession because of a call against tight end Foster Moreau.
