Hammond police officer, two people injured in patrol car crash, officials sayA Hammond police officer and two people were injured in a group crash at 169th and Southeastern Avenue Friday evening.

HAMMOND, Ind. (WLS) — A Hammond police officer and two people were injured in a crash with a patrol car Friday evening, officials said.

It happened around 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of 169th and Southeastern Avenue, police said.

The patrol car was traveling west on 169th when another vehicle traveling south on Southeastern ran a red light and collided with the patrol car.

According to police, two female passengers in the vehicle were taken to the community hospital in Münster. Their conditions are unknown.

Hammond police said they are actively investigating and will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
