Haynes King Injury Update: Report reveals Georgia Tech QB’s status compared to Miami

Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King is a “real game decision” against No. 4 Miami on Saturday, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

According to the report, he will undergo pre-match training before a decision is made. King did not practice with the team on Thursday and Friday in hopes of potentially playing against the Hurricanes. He has missed the last two games with an upper-body injury.

In the first game, King was sidelined due to injury, and Georgia Tech turned to the sophomore Zach Pyron against begin Notre Dame on October 19th. He completed 20 of 36 passes for 269 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in a 31-13 loss.

Pyron had problems on his next outing last week Virginia Techwhich led to the Yellow Jackets playing true freshmen Aaron Philo. The two completed 21 of 48 passes for 260 yards and each threw an interception in the 21-6 loss.

Thamel expects Philo to get the starting role against the Hurricanes on Saturday if King is unable to play.

However, Georgia Tech is hoping to get its QB1 back as the Yellow Jackets have started the season 5-2 under King’s leadership. Before being sidelined by injury, he completed 71.2 percent of his passes for 1,568 yards and eight touchdowns with just one interception this season. King also runs well, with 353 yards and six touchdowns on the ground.

They have lost both matches since King was sidelined and are in danger of falling to .500 if they can’t upset Miami on Saturday. It’s going into the last two games of the season NC State And Georgia – Georgia Tech must win at least one of these games to become bowl eligible, making the outcome of the Week 11 game all the more important.

Kickoff between the Yellow Jackets and Hurricanes is scheduled for noon ET and will be broadcast live on ESPN. The Canes enter game day as 10-point betting favorites. The over/under is 63.5 points.
