If you want to catch up on the film series before the new film’s release in May 2025, your best bet is to get a Paramount+ subscription, which will get you all but one of the films in the series. Mission: Impossible III

Mission: Impossible III introduced Simon Pegg and Michelle Monaghan in later recurring roles, while Laurence Fishburne plays the IMF director and Philip Seymour Hoffman plays the villain.

Rolling Stone Review: “It’s a blast to watch Hoffman play Cruise’s gay action boy from hell, and you can’t help but think that makes the film all the better for it.” However, he’s the real star of M:i:III is directed and co-written by JJ Abrams.”

Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol

In the fourth part of the series, Cruise and Pegg reprise their roles, while Rhames has a cameo appearance. Jeremy Renner, Michael Nyqvist, Paula Patton and Léa Seydoux also appear.

Rogue nation is Christopher McQuarrie’s first entry in the series and features the returns of Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames, while Sean Harris, Rebecca Ferguson and Alec Baldwin make their first appearances.

Rolling Stone Review: “The film begins with Ethan hanging off the side of an Airbus A400M cargo plane as it takes off. Why? This type of question is irrelevant in a franchise where action trumps logic at every turn.”

Mission: Impossible – Fallout

Stand out sees the return of Rebecca Ferguson and Sean Harris, while Henry Cavill plays Ethan’s beefed-up CIA adversary and Vanessa Kirby plays an arms dealer.

Rolling Stone Review: “There’s really no excuse for filling a two and a half hour film with so much unnecessary exposition. But you have to endure it because the set pieces are so spectacular that they are not in the charts.”

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning

Vanessa Kirby and Rebecca Ferguson return Dead Reckoningwhile Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham and Pom Klementieff join the cast.
