Holmgren helped off the field at Warriors-Thunder with a hip injury

Holmgren helped off the field with a hip injury at Warriors-Thunder and originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s game against the Warriors on Sunday started off worryingly for the home team.

Star center Chet Holmgren was injured midway through the first quarter and had to miss the third quarter.

Holmgren went up to block Andrew Wiggins’ shot, but came down hard as the Warriors forward got the basket.

At that point, Holmgren had just four rebounds on 0-3 shooting in five minutes but had to be taken to the locker room.

It was not immediately clear whether he would be able to return to the game or be ruled out.

He appeared to be unable to put any weight on his right leg while holding onto the hip/oblique while on the ground.

Oklahoma City is off to an 8-1 start to the season as it looks to assert itself as Western Conference champions and make a strong run in the postseason.

Holmgren entered Sunday averaging 18.2 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.9 blocks and 2.2 assists on 52/40/78 shooting distribution.
