I’m all for values, avoided the dot-com bubble, but I still say “Buy” on Palantir (NYSE:PLTR)

After working for one investment research firm or another for more than 43 years, I finally retired. Now I am completely independent. And for the first time at Seeking Alpha, I won’t be working based on someone else’s product agenda. I now have only one goal: to give you the best actionable investing insights possible. I have long specialized in rule/factor-based equity investment strategies. But I am different from others who come from such a background. I don’t serve the numbers. Instead, I use the numbers to inspire HI (Human Intelligence) generated investment stories. I definitely understand quant investing, including factors and what not (AI before it was called AI). But I don’t agree with what other quants are doing. Rather than obsessing over statistical studies that are inappropriate for time periods other than those studied, I combine factor analysis with the underlying financial theories, including classic fundamental analysis, to learn the true story of a company and its stock. Investing is about the future. So numbers (which necessarily live in the past) can only take us so far. They are at their best when they tell us stories that shed light on what is likely to happen in the future. And so I use it, I’ve had a pretty colorful career. In addition to extensive experience with stocks from many different groups (large cap, small cap, micro cap, value, growth, income, special situations… you name it, I have it covered), I have developed and worked with many different quant models. Additionally, I previously managed a high-yield (“junk bond”) bond fund and conducted research into quantitative asset allocation strategies that form the basis of what is now known as robo advising. I have previously edited and/or written several stock newsletters, the most notable being the Forbes Low Priced Stock Report. I previously worked as Assistant Research Director at Value Line. I have also long had a passion for investor education, which has led me to lead numerous stock selection and analysis seminars and author two books: Screening The Market and The Value Connection. I’m looking forward to my new incarnation at Seeking Alpha. I hope you like my offer. But if not, feel free to tell me why in the comments. I’m a big boy. I can handle criticism. (But please don’t call me “stupid.” That’s my wife’s job!)
