Just moments after Trump reclaimed the presidency yesterday, fringe platforms erupted in hateful and violent rhetoric in support of Trump, including calls for mass executions. The violent and hateful messages came from several organized far-right, white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups who were now emboldened to spread hate and violent rhetoric with the promise that Trump would return to power.

One of the most vocal groups after the election was white supremacists Proud boyswhose leaders and members helped orchestrate the insurrection of January 6, 2021. Several chapters posted messages celebrating Trump’s victory and signaling their willingness to mobilize on his behalf. Both the Villain City Proud Boys and the Toledo proud boys invoked Trump’s slogan “Stand back and stand by” during a 2020 presidential debate to signal their willingness to mobilize at his command. The Toledo Proud Boys announced they were “stand[ing] ready to help President Trump,” while the Villain City Proud Boys I posted a picture of Trump wearing a gold and black hat (Proud Boy colors) and a gold tie with the words “STAND BY.”

The reports also spread vile misogyny towards Kamala Harris. An account linked to the Proud Boys referred to Harris as a “cackling hyena bitch, racial card playing woman” who was “rejected.” The message was followed by a greeting that read “Hail Trump,” reminiscent of the way Nazis addressed Hitler.

According to the election results that they were delighted has not decided on a candidate Proud boys of Columbus announced that “now the real work begins” to “undo the damage done by the Biden/Harris administration.” Different Proud Boys chapters aimed to manifest this “real work” in different ways. Some supported the Heritage Foundation Christian Nationalist Project 2025 Agenda. For example, Proud Boys Ohio explained that “Project 2025 was real!” And called on “RELEASE OF PROJECT 2025 HANDMAIDS TALE RAPE SQUADS.” Others called on Trump to keep his promise and pardon those convicted of crimes on January 6, which includes much of the Proud Boys leadership. The Bluegrass Proud Boys required“Sorry every January, no exceptions.” That was the feeling repeated himself from several other Proud Boys chapter.

And there were calls for violence. Proud Boys Ohio created two posts with images of Vice President-elect JD Vance looking at the camera with the caption “We’re going to fucking kill you” And “we will kill you.” The Proud Boys made sure to make it clear who their threat was directed at, saying, “The message is aimed at the Libtards, you fucking idiots.” “Libtard” is a derogatory term often used by the extreme right-wing is used to describe liberals or anyone on the political left. Some follow-up threats like “RIP fa***ts” combined with the use of terms like “rape squads” serve as a worrying indicator of the targeting of marginalized groups like the LGBTQ+ community and women who Proud Boys seem to feel emboldened to threaten more explicitly.
