Indiana with FG now leads Michigan 17-3

2:00 2Q: Indiana gets FG, leads Michigan, 17-3

After Nicolas Radicic’s 40-yard field goal, Indiana now has a 14-point lead.

This drive came after Alex Orji’s fumble.

Things could have been worse, but the Hoosiers hurt themselves with an offensive pass interference call.

CBS Sports showed CJ Charleston now wearing street clothes and walking on crutches.

5:43 2Q: Michigan fumbles; Indiana still leads 14-3

The Wolverines finally managed to stop the Hoosiers’ offense.

But on the ensuing drive, Alex Orji fumbled the third down and Indiana’s Mikail Kamara recovered.

Michigan challenged the fumble call and it was granted, so Michigan loses a timeout and has no further challenges.

10:54 2Q: Charleston is eliminated

CBS Sports just reported that CJ Charleston, who was injured on the kickoff return after Indiana’s first touchdown, was taken in for an X-ray and is ready for the game.

12:10 2Q: Indiana leads with another TD against Michigan 14-3

It’s another quick drive for the Hoosiers – this 7 plays for 65 yards.

Kurtis Rourke hit Elijah Sarratt for a 36-yard score.

Once again, Will Johnson’s absence is felt.

The Wolverines will have to try to find a way to keep the Hoosiers offense off the field.

End 1Q: Indiana 7, Michigan 3

The Wolverines are once again without star cornerback Will Johnson, and that continues to be a problem.

After Michigan punted, CJ Charleston was injured on the return and had to be carried off the field.

1:17 1Q: Indiana responds and takes a 7-3 lead over Michigan

After forcing the Wolverines into a field goal, the Hoosiers responded with a surgical strike.

Kurtis Rourke led a 7-play, 75-yard drive and ended with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Omar Cooper Jr.

Ty Son Lawton had a 13-yard run and Rourke found Ke’Shawn Williams for 26 yards, putting the Hoosiers into the Michigan red zone.

Indiana now has 46 touchdowns on 55 drives inside the red zone this season.

5:01 1Q: Zvata FG; Michigan takes a 3-0 lead

After allowing the Hoosiers a first down on their first drive, the Michigan Wolverines finished with a pretty decent first drive.

Davis Warren led Michigan with a 14-play, 66-yard drive that culminated in a 39-yard field goal by Dominic Zvada.

Highlights of the drive included two early throws to Colston Loveland, one for a first down; a 16-yard first down to Fredrick Moore; a 10-yard completion to Peyton O’Leary and a beautiful 16-yard first down to Tyler Morris, who got his toes down and held on to the ball.

The only bad thing was that Warren lost the ball on third down, a mistake that Michigan was able to make up for.

Availability report

Here’s the availability report from beat writer Angelique Chengelis:

Will Johnson is still out.

Michigan is trying to play the role of spoiler as No. 8 Indiana seeks its first 10-win season in program history.

The Wolverines have beaten the Hoosiers in 27 of the last 28 meetings. The only loss came during the shortened COVID-19 pandemic season.

Michigan is hoping for the return of starting cornerbacks Will Johnson and Jyaire Hill, who will be needed against the second-highest scoring offense in the country at 46.6 points per game.
