Israeli airstrikes in northern Gaza Strip kill 30, 13 children

Dozens of people were killed and injured in an Israeli attack on a house in Jabilia in the northern Gaza Strip at dawn on Sunday, according to Palestinian medical personnel.

Footage circulated on social media, which reporters could not immediately verify, showed about a dozen bodies wrapped in blankets lying on the floor in a hospital. Residents said the building attacked by Israel housed at least 30 people.

The official Palestinian news agency WAFA and Hamas media put the number of people killed at 32. There was no immediate confirmation of that number from the territory’s health ministry.

The Civil Emergency Service said its operations were halted by an ongoing Israeli raid on two towns and a refugee camp in northern Gaza that began on October 5. He could not give a figure on the number of people killed in the attack.

Israel says it has sent troops to Jabilia, Beit Lahiya and Beit Hanoun in the north of the enclave to fight Hamas militants carrying out attacks from there and to prevent them from regrouping. It said its troops had killed hundreds of militants in those areas since the new offensive began.

In Gaza City on Sunday, an Israeli airstrike on a house in the Sabra neighborhood killed Wael Al-Khour, a social ministry official, and seven other family members, including his wife and children, doctors and relatives said.
