It will rain from tonight until Thursday morning, with drier weather on Friday

Wednesday evening update

Happy Wednesday everyone!

The cold front, which dumped up to 4 to 5 inches of rain in parts of the viewing area, moved south last night and stalled near the Tennessee River. The blocked frontal boundary will continue to produce isolated areas of showers and a few storms overnight and mainly through the first half of Thursday.

Due to the stalled and slow moving system, we have picked up some impressive rainfall totals over the last 36 hours with some Doppler estimates of up to 5 inches in some of our western counties.

…And the rain isn’t over yet, as more heavy rain clouds will form tonight into the early hours of tomorrow.

Veterans Day looks to be our next break in the rain, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the lower 70s. Another, more powerful system is expected to head our way on Wednesday next week, bringing heavy rain and windy conditions again, but currently models are pointing to a blast of cold air behind the system that will make for a colder end to next week.
