“It would be an honor to serve in Trump’s Cabinet.”

(NewsNation) — Tulsi Gabbard, co-chair of the Trump transition team, said she is “honored to serve in the President-elect’s Cabinet.”

“Is there a way to achieve the goal of preventing World War III and nuclear war? Of course,” Gabbard said during an appearance on NewsNation’s “CUOMO.” “But here too, President Trump will make his decision.”

The U.S. Army Reserve officer said the way to honor veterans is to ensure that “war is the last resort.” Gabbard said Trump understands the American people’s desire to fight wars only as a last resort.

Gabbard, who left the Democratic Party in 2022, endorsed Donald Trump in August during a National Guard Association rally in Michigan, where Trump also spoke.

Gabbard ran an unsuccessful presidential campaign in the 2020 Democratic primary. In the years since ending her candidacy, she has resigned from Congress, left the Democratic Party and appeared at events such as the Conservative Political Action Conference.

On Sunday, Trump announced that former U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement director Tom Homan would join as “border czar,” and the next day he said his former adviser, Stephen Miller, would be deputy chief policy officer.

Trump will meet with President Joe Biden at the White House on Wednesday to discuss the transition of power.

Gabbard said the goal of Trump’s transition team is to “bring together people who support President Trump’s vision” and “prevent what happened last time.”

“Trump ended up having some neoconservatives around him who tried to undermine his goals so they could achieve their goals of continuing to keep us in a perpetual state of war,” Gabbard said.
