Jacksonville State ties the game in crazy Hail Mary vs. Louisiana Tech and misses an extra point

The Jacksonville State Gamecocks conjured the magic in the final seconds against Louisiana Tech on Saturday night when they threw an improbable 50-yard touchdown pass as time expired. The miraculous touchdown throw ended the game at 37:37. The only downside was that their kicker missed the extra point and the game went into overtime.

Check out the pass from Tyler Huffwhen he uncorked one from the 45-yard line for the game-winning score to receiver Cam Vaughn.

The good news is that JSU won the game in overtime, giving Rich Rodriguez his sixth win of the year. That earns him $20,000 in bonuses – $10,000 apiece for his sixth win and a bowl appearance. The Gamecocks ended up winning 44-37 after Andrew Paul scored the winning goal in overtime.

Jacksonville State is currently on a six-game winning streak, qualifying for the second straight season under Rich Rodriguez. Tyler Huff has completed 64.8% of his passes for 1,501 yards while throwing eight touchdowns with four interceptions. He was also fired ten times.

Jacksonville State running back Tre Stewart is one of the most electrifying backs in the country with 134 carries for 914 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. Huff also has 784 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.

Jacksonville State began the 2024 season with three losses to Coastal Carolina, Louisville and Eastern Michigan. To close out the year they face Florida International, Sam Houston and Western Kentucky. It will be interesting to see which bowl they end up in.

In 2023, the Gamecocks faced the ULL Ragin Cajuns, whom they defeated in overtime 34-31.
