Jake Paul guarantees Mike Tyson knockout: “It’s already decided”

Jake Paul believes a Mike Tyson knockout win is fate.

That’s how confident Paul is ahead of his duel with the boxing legend, which takes place this Friday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas and will be broadcast live on Netflix. Paul has made a name for himself as a boxer, having previously found fame as a YouTuber and social media influencer, and faces his most successful opponent to date in 58-year-old Tyson.

“Iron Mike” is fighting in his first sanctioned bout since 2015 (and making his first in-ring appearance since an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020). In his prime, Tyson was revered for his knockout power, which won him multiple world titles and made him one of the sport’s most famous figures.

Before the November 15 event, Paul and Tyson met for a one-on-one interview on YouTube, and Paul waxed poetic about what it would feel like to knock out Tyson.

“If it happens, it will be a little bittersweet because I love him, but at this moment, we are destined to go to war,” Paul said. “He’s trying to take food off my plate, I’m trying to take food off his plate, and that’s what warriors do. But for myself, I dreamed it, manifested it, and it will be the start of a 12 year career in the entertainment, acting, professional world and all the things I’ve done in boxing now. Finally it’s my moment and mine Time to shine and I’m going to show the world who the fuck I am.

“Because everyone doubted me, everyone had something to say. I was never given anything as a gift. I had to work for everything. Oppressed by everyone. Launched by YouTube. Thrown from platforms. Canceled five times, and here I am, actually putting on the biggest event in the entire entertainment industry, and now it’s showing the rest of the world what hard work and perseverance can do, and I’m just happy to be able to show other kids that maybe we have to face adversity get through it, fight and prove ourselves again and again.”

Asked if he was confident he would make Tyson count, Paul didn’t answer: “It’s already written.”

“This is the worst man on the planet,” Paul added. “Heavyweight. Just look at the damn guy sitting here right now. He’s an animal. He’s posting Instagram pictures and I’m a little scared because he’s so good looking, but I have to get to that level and that Showing people that I can do the impossible, and that’s what Jake Paul’s story is all about.”

Tyson was then asked how a loss to Paul would affect his legacy, leading to the following exchange:

Tyson: “I don’t look at my life as a legacy. For me, legacy means ego. Who the hell cares about my inheritance? One day soon I will be dead. But he won’t win.”

Paul: “It would be the greatest moment in the history of boxing if I put that man to sleep on Friday night, so that’s pretty stupid.”

Tyson: “He dreams a lot. It won’t be true, young man.”

Paul: “I respect your opinion, but it’s just my time. The universe knows it, the gods know it, and you will know it.”

Despite his bravery, Paul admitted he was worried about how Friday’s fight might unfold. Of Tyson’s 50 professional victories, 44 came by knockout, many of which are repeated to this day due to the level of violence and viciousness involved.

Paul doesn’t want to get hit, but he’s ready for it.

“I have to be vigilant,” Paul said. “That’s a scary, scary man. He is a killer and is still at full strength in all the videos, in all the sparring he shows by dropping his sparring partners.

“My mom texts, she can’t even watch Tyson hit. She won’t see it because it scares her. He has one of the deadliest uppercuts of all time, so obviously I have to be ready and know that he’s going to have some moments there and I have to hang in there.”

For the boxing legend, Tyson’s likely last fight is more than just a farewell party. He plans to emerge victorious, something he failed to do when he lost to Kevin McBride in June 2005.

Tyson is confident that millions of fans will get the chance to see his hand raised again.

“I’m not going to lose, so I can’t imagine losing at all,” Tyson said. “I can’t even imagine it. He won’t win. I think he thinks this will be a very easy evening. It won’t be an easy night for you.”

“I don’t think so,” Paul replied. “I think it will be a war. A war for the ages. The fans are the ones who benefit from this, but I know you, I know your soul on a deeper level, and I know myself and I know you won’t fucking give up, and neither will I. You could tear it off, my head is spinning. I can go on screen. You can be kidding me, I could bleed anywhere and I won’t stop, and I know that goes for you too. That’s the beauty of it. I don’t think it will be easy. I know it’s going to be hard.”
