Jake Paul spends $200,000 trolling Mike Tyson with ‘ear covers’ in final pre-fight mind games

Jake Paul has shelled out a whopping $200,000 to continue his mind games ahead of his biggest fight yet this weekend.

The controversial star faces Mike Tyson on Friday night and continued to troll his rival at their final press conference on Wednesday night in Texas. “Iron Mike” looked like he’d rather be anywhere else in the world as he muttered during a lengthy question-and-answer session with the world’s media.

And at one point Paul showed off his latest attempt at taunting his opponent, evoking the memory of one of his greatest shames. He unveiled a set of diamond ear defenders, recalling Tyson’s rematch with Evander Holyfield in 1997, when he bit off a chunk of his rival’s ear during the fight.

In his latest attempt to taunt Tyson, Jake Paul bought a pair of “ear covers” that were studded with diamonds and pointed. The ostensible reason for wearing such equipment is to prevent the New York native, who has experience in the field, from getting his ears bitten.

Paul also wore a $7 million Jacob and Co. watch, a “billionaire watch,” on stage. The huge expenditure will put a significant dent in even his reported $40 million budget for the fight, which he squandered along with co-headliner Katie Taylor during another segment of a press conference.

“I can’t get my shit off on Friday night,” Paul told Tyson during an otherwise relatively uneventful press conference before showing off his expensive jewelry from VOBARA. “So that’s where I got my diamond ear covers.”

The stunt Paul pulled was intended to bring back memories of the infamous night in 1997 when Tyson took on Evander Holyfield for the second time. He had been stopped in their first meeting seven months ago, and when they got to the third round, their rematch didn’t go his way.

In the first fight, Holyfield dominated for eleven rounds and the second was a similar story. Tyson complained about his rival’s headbutts and retaliated by biting his ear in the second round, earning himself a two-point deduction.

However, this punishment wasn’t enough to stop him from doing it again in the third round. He went a step further and actually took a piece out of Holyfield’s ear, causing the fight to be stopped and chaos to reign in the arena.

In the end, they patched things up and Tyson even sold weed gummies to make fun of the situation. The two are now close friends and regularly discuss the incident in documentaries and appearances.
