Lopez continued: “I think my whole life I’ve just been trying to say I’m good enough until I know where I am now. I give myself credit. I tell the little girl who grew up in the Bronx, “You did really good.” I haven’t done that in so many years. And now I think with everything that’s been going on in my life, in my relationships, and even in my career, it’s like you should give yourself a little bit of comfort and love. We have been through many things that no one knows about and you have persevered and refuse to give up and let it get you down. There’s something to be said for that, because things can really change your life in a way that makes you want to give up and say, “F– this is too hard, I don’t want to do this anymore.” But I’m not there. I refuse to not give myself everything that little girl deserves.”
