John Krasinski was voted “Sexiest Man Alive 2024”.

“I know how badly you wanted to be People’s Sexiest Man Alive, so I just came to see if you were okay,” Krasinski said.

“Wow, that’s so thoughtful, which is such a sexy quality in itself,” Colbert replied. “I’m beginning to understand why they gave it to you.”

“Well, I think it’s that and the biceps,” Krasinski replied.

To help Colbert get into crowd-pleasing shape, Krasinski and “The Late Show” host teamed up for a parody of ’80s instructional videos called “6 Simple Steps to Sexiness.” In addition to giving bogus tips like only consuming water and raw eggs, the duo also suggested stealing some “sexy DNA,” with Evans making a surprise appearance in the segment.

“I need your spit to make me sexy,” Colbert told Evans as he tried to wipe his mouth. From there, Krasinski suggested using the sample to create a serum in “that genetics lab you built with the money you made from reruns of ‘The Office.'” The parody ended with Colbert transformed into Evans after following all the steps.

“I feel like the sexiest man in the world,” Colbert said after taking on Evans’ face.

“Sure, in 2022, but this year it’s me,” Krasinski replied.

Afterwards, Krasinski sat down for a long late-night chat with Colbert and presented his two covers for the 2024 issue of People’s Sexiest Man Alive. The actor and director joked that he only found out about the news “five minutes” before his appearance on “The Late Show.”

“I’m pretty sure it’s still a little while,” Krasinski said. “I thought it was a prank when they told me, and now I’m sure of it.”

In reality, Krasinski knew about the honor a little earlier, but was sworn to Marvel-level secrecy. However, he forgot about it and told one person: Matt Damon. Krasinski admitted he accidentally broke the news to the Cambridge star (and 2007 Sexiest Man Alive) when he showed up late to Damon’s birthday party.

“I think he thought it was a little bit,” he said of Damon’s nonchalant response to Krasinski’s explanation that he was late for his People photo shoot. “We’ll see who’s in ‘Ocean’s 15’.”

When Colbert asked how the people and his family in Massachusetts would react to the news, Krasinski said, “Thanksgiving is going to be great,” before breaking out his best Boston accent.

“Oh yeah, People’s Sexiest?” said Krasinski. “So you think you’re better than me? Is that it?”

In his cover story chat with People to mark this year’s honor, Krasinski revealed that he suffered an “immediate blackout” after learning the news.

“No thoughts,” he told the magazine. “Apart from the fact that I might get screwed. So I don’t wake up and think, ‘Is this the day I’m going to be asked to be the Sexiest Man Alive?’ And yet it was the day you did it.”

In the article, his wife and co-star Emily Blunt joked that she would wallpaper their house with Krasinski’s “Sexiest Man Alive” cover.

“My kids are going to love this, it won’t be weird at all,” she told People.

In addition to Krasinski, Dempsey, Evans and Damon, his New England colleague Ben Affleck was also named “People’s Sexiest Man Alive” in 2002.
