John Krasinski was voted “Sexiest Man Alive” in 2024

John Krasinski was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2024.

The news was announced Tuesday night on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.”

“Actually just an instant blackout. No thoughts,” Krasinski told People about his reaction when he found out he would be this year’s honoree. “Apart from the fact that I might get screwed. So I don’t wake up and think, “Is this the day I’m going to be asked to be the Sexiest Man Alive?” And yet it was the day you did it. You guys really raised the bar for me.”

According to Krasinski, his wife Emily Blunt was “very excited” when she heard the news. “It was such a joy to tell her,” he told People.

Krasinski is known for his role as Jim Halpert in the US version of the mockumentary sitcom The Office and as the titular CIA analyst in the Prime Video series Jack Ryan. He also directed, co-wrote and starred in 2018’s “A Quiet Place” and its 2020 sequel.

This year, Krasinski starred in IF, a fantasy comedy film about neighbors Cal and Bea (Ryan Reynolds and Cailey Fleming) who see other people’s imaginary friends, written, produced and directed led. He also served as a producer on the apocalyptic horror film A Quiet Place: Day One, starring Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn.

The People’s Sexiest Man Alive program has been an annual event for the magazine since the award’s inception in 1985 with its first winner, Mel Gibson. Last year’s winner was Patrick Dempsey, and other current winners include Chris Evans, Michael B. Jordan, Paul Rudd, John Legend and Idris Elba.

People’s Sexiest Man Alive issue featuring an interview with Krasinski appears in newsstands on Friday.
