Jovantae Barnes is out, wide receiver likely

OU football running back Jovantae Barnes was downgraded to Out, defensive end Adepoju Adebawore was upgraded to Probable and offensive lineman Joshua Bates was downgraded to Out in the SEC student-athlete availability report Friday.

247Sports reported on Friday that Barnes would miss the Missouri game.

OU wide receivers Deion Burks and Jalil Farooq are expected to play before Saturday’s game against the Tigers.

“It opens up a lot of things,” OU quarterback Jackson Arnold said of the possible returns of Burks and Farooq.

“Plus, it just gives us a lot of confidence for our offense. We’re starting this week thinking, “Damn, we’ve got two of our guys back at receiver.” We’ve had guys playing great at receiver, but when you say, ‘You’re getting two studs back,’ that’s a big confidence boost for the offensive.”

Missouri quarterback Brady Cook is listed as out. Tigers running back Nate Noel is listed as a likely player against the Sooners after ESPN reported Friday that he is expected to return Saturday.

SEC teams must file their reports on the Wednesday before a Saturday conference game and update them daily until 90 minutes before kickoff.

The Sooners and Tigers face off on Saturday at 6:45 p.m. on the SEC Network.
