Jude Bellingham’s reaction to being substituted by Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid against AC Milan speaks volumes – Real Madrid

Jude Bellingham’s reaction after Carlo Ancelotti sent him off early during Real Madrid’s 3-1 defeat to AC Milan in the Champions League revealed a lot.

After a week-long break, the Champions League returned on Tuesday evening as several of Europe’s best clubs competed on matchday four of the new format.

In a surprise result, Italian giants AC Milan traveled to the Santiago Bernabeu and beat Real Madrid 3-1, making it their second straight defeat following their 4-0 loss to Barcelona at El Classico last month.

And now a clip has emerged online showing Real Madrid star Bellingham’s reaction to his exclusion at the start of the game, which speaks volumes about his current feelings towards the club and manager Ancelotti.

Immediately after Tijjani Reijnders scored Milan’s third goal of the game in the 73rd minute to seal the result, Ancelotti decided to take Bellingham off, frustrating the Englishman.

And in a recent viral clip, the 21-year-old can be seen angrily kicking a water bottle as soon as he leaves the pitch, expressing his disappointment at his team’s poor performance.

Despite a hugely impressive first season with Los Blancos, Bellingham has struggled in the 2023/24 season and Tuesday night was no different.

The midfielder was not involved in Madrid’s only goal of the game and did not take a single shot on goal during the game.

In 11 appearances across all competitions this season, Bellingham has yet to score a goal for Madrid and has managed just three assists.

In comparison, last season he scored an incredible 23 goals and assisted a further 13 in 42 appearances in all competitions.

His performances last season saw him finish third in the 2024 Ballon d’Or rankings, behind teammate Vinicius Junior, the goalscorer for Madrid on Tuesday, and Manchester City’s Rodri.

But despite his poor performances this season, Ancelotti said he is not worried about his star player and that he is still happy with his performance this season.

Before Madrid’s last Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund, he said: “We are happy with his work, I am very happy. He works a lot, he is always present, he competes, he fights, he sacrifices.”

“It is true that he did not score the goals that he scored last year, but the surprise is not this year, the surprise was last year when he scored a lot of goals that no one expected and the us helped a lot.”
