Kemper County man faces drug charges

KEMPER COUNTY, Miss. (WTOK) – A Kemper County man has been charged with sale of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.

The Kemper County Sheriff’s Office said Lullie Bufford Scott was stopped at a security checkpoint on Highway 16 on Saturday when a law enforcement officer reported the presence of drugs following an exterior search of the vehicle and 4.4 grams of meth were subsequently discovered.

KCSO said Scott also consented to a search of his home and an additional 25.5 grams were found, as well as several scales and plastic bags.

Scott’s bond for the latest charge was set at $25,000 Tuesday. However, because he was already out on bail for a separate drug offense in September, the KCSO announced that it would be revoked.

Scott’s court date is set for March 17, 2025.
