Keyshawn Davis destroys Gustavo Lemos – Boxing Results

Lightweight contender Keyshawn Davis (12-0, 8 KOs) made a statement Friday night by knocking out 155-pound junior middleweight Gustavo Lemos (29-1, 19 KOs) in the second round of a WBO lightweight title eliminator Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.

Keyshawn knocked the 28-year-old Lemos down three times in round two. The referee, Raul Caiz Jr., stopped the fight after the third knockdown and fell on Lemos as he tried to end the fight. The time was at 1:08 of the second round.

In the first knockdown, Keyshawn caught Lemos with a counter right hand as he threw a wild shot. Keyshawn’s shot hit Lemos’ chin and sent him to the ground. Moments later, Keyshawn knocked Lemos down with another right hand.

He then finished him off with a left-right combination. This time Lemos was badly injured and would not have been able to get up even if the referee had not stopped the fight.

It was hard to tell how good Keyshawn was in this fight because Gustavo had looked so bad. He was a miniature version of Rocky Balboa from the Sylvester Stallone film “Rocky,’ but he was worse than him because he had no insider game.

He only allowed Keyshawn to tie him up when he was able to close the distance. Keyshawn stabbed to the body and easily escaped Lemos’ clumsy attacks, looking like a matador at times.

After the fight, Keyshawn called out lightweight champions Gervonta Davis and Denys Berinchyk. He said he believes he will challenge WBO champion Berinchyk next, meaning he will overtake No. 1 William Zepeda and No. 2 Raymond Muratalla.

“Next will definitely be a world title,” Keyshawn said. “Hey, Gervonta. Knock-knock. Ever since I signed with Top Rank, we’ve been planning a night like this. Kudos to Top Rank, Bob Arum. “We’re going to make it even bigger. We managed 10,000 against an opponent who is not very well known. I didn’t feel any strength in him. Maybe he didn’t have a chance to beat me. I can’t say much about a two-round fight.”

Abdullah Mason destroys Yohan Vasquez

In the evening’s fight, lightweight Abdullah Mason (16-0, 14 KOs) was dropped twice in round one by Yohan Vasquez (26-5, 21 KOs), but came back to take him in round two of a thrilling, action-packed fight stop fighting.

Unlike the main event, Mason didn’t move in the ring, picking up the win and using illegal stiff arms to neutralize Vasquez’s offense. Mason went into the trenches and waged war on Vasquez, dropping him with a thunderous left uppercut in round one.

At the start of the second round, Mason surprised Vasquez with a left hand. The shot caused Vasquez’s right knee to buckle. From that point on he had a noticeable limp. Seconds later, Mason Vasquez folded with a left punch to the midsection. Vasquez got down on one knee, looked into his corner, shook his hand and was counted out. The official time was 1:59.
