Kirby Smart calls Georgia player ‘an idiot’ for partying with Ole Miss fan

Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart was harsh on Jake Pope, who provided Georgia’s security and celebrated with a childhood friend after Georgia lost to Ole Miss.

Pope, who transferred from Alabama to Georgia, plays primarily on special teams. Pope only appeared in three games this season and did not record any statistics.

“What an idiot. “Just stupid,” Smart said in the video of Pope celebrating with an Ole Miss fan. “I haven’t seen it until today.” He’s embarrassed. He is upset about this. This is obviously a childhood friend that they grew up playing with in Buford. I hadn’t seen him in ages. Just not really smart.”

“But to be honest, I don’t have time to waste energy on this,” Smart continued. “You know what I’m saying. My focus is on Tennessee. I’m not really worried about that.”

Speaking of Tennessee, Georgia hosts Tennessee on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
