Judging by the composition of Jon Scheyer’s third Blue Devil squad and the program’s penchant for securing the award in recent years, there’s a good chance the 6-foot-1, 220-pound Knueppel isn’t the only young one There will be talent running around in Durham that has earned this title.

In Duke’s dominant home wins over Maine and Army last week at Cameron Indoor Stadium, the 19-year-old from Wisconsin scored 18.5 points per game on 56.5 percent shooting from the field, including 50.0 percent on three-pointers. He also averaged 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists.

Knueppel, who earned Duke basketball’s 86th ACC Rookie of the Week award in 187 attempts since the 2013-14 season, led the Blue Devils in both contests.

From today’s perspective, the number of notable mock drafts that portray Kon Knueppel as a one-off lottery decision appears to be increasing.

Meanwhile, Florida State’s Jamir Watkins and Miami’s Nijel Pack are the co-ACC Player of the Week winners.

The No. 6 Blue Devils (2-0, 0-0 ACC) are now making final preparations for their Champions Classic showdown against No. 19 Kentucky (2-0, 0-0 SEC) at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena at 9 pm ET Tuesday (ESPN). They then return to Durham to take on Wofford at noon ET on Saturday (ACC Network).
