Krispy Kreme is giving out free donuts today for World Kindness Day

Donut forget to be kind this week.

Krispy Kreme just announced that the first 500 guests to visit a participating store nationwide on World Kindness Day, November 13th, can receive a free dozen Original Glazed Donuts – no purchase necessary. Doing some napkin math, that means Double-K will be handing out about 6,000 free donuts per store.

This free treat is available at Krispy Kreme stores and drive-thru locations at every participating location in the US.

“World Kindness Day is a reminder that we can all have a positive impact on people’s lives, even through small gestures like sharing a sweet treat,” Dave Skena, global chief brand officer of Krispy Kreme, said in a statement Press release. “We hope that every dozen Original Glazed Donuts we give away will enable and inspire dozens of small acts of kindness.”

World Quality Day activities are also planned at some of Krispy Kreme’s international locations – the company operates in 40 countries. The donut chain is known for celebrating other thoughtful holidays, too: earlier this year, it celebrated Random Acts of Kindness Day (February 17) by handing out free original glazed donuts.

According to UNESCO, World Kindness Day was first launched in 1998 by the international NGO World Kindness Movement, whose aim is to promote goodwill around the world.

With that in mind, if you’re one of the lucky ones to score a dozen free donuts today, maybe give away one, two, or eleven of them to brighten someone’s day.
