Kristin Chenoweth has an unusual response to Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex trafficking allegations

Kristin Chenoweth had a surprising answer when asked about the ongoing sex trafficking case against Sean “Diddy” Combs.

The 56-year-old told TMZ in New York City on Monday that she is “still praying for the 55-year-old hip-hop mogul” as he remains in New York in connection with the human trafficking and racketeering crimes he is accused of was imprisoned.

“It’s bad – it’s really bad,” the Broken Arrow, Oklahoma native said of the allegations against Diddy as she was stopped from signing autographs by a staff member.

The Broadway star reaffirmed her faith on X/Twitter on May 17 after seeing the March 5, 2016 clip on CNN of Combs physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend Casandra Ventura.

The “Pushing Daisies” star said she found the situation “heartbreaking” as she “used to love” Combs. (She later revealed that it had triggered flashbacks to the abuse she had suffered in the past.)

Chenoweth said in a subsequent tweet, “Honestly, I have my reasons for why the Sean Combs video bothers me so much.” The most important thing I need to do is pray for him. Really.’

Chenoweth responded to a number of her followers who disagreed with her assessment, praising some for their “mature tweets.” said she was also praying for Combs’ family; and said, “Only God can forgive him.”

Chenoweth later said she stood by the first tweet despite the controversy it sparked.

“I can’t delete it,” Chenoweth said. “Believe me, I felt sick when I saw it and I was so grateful that she was okay.” He is NOT. He is sick. Sick. Only God can forgive him. So forgive me, but that’s how I think. And pray. Xo.’

Combs made a new bail application on Friday, saying changed circumstances and new evidence would mean he would be allowed outside prison to prepare for a trial in May.

Lawyers for Combs filed the motion in federal court in Manhattan, where his previous requests for bail since his arrest in September on racketeering, conspiracy and sex trafficking charges were rejected by two judges.

He has pleaded not guilty to charges that he, with the help of a network of associates and associates, coerced and abused women for years and silenced victims through extortion and violence, including kidnapping, arson and physical violence.

He is awaiting trial May 5 at a federal penitentiary in Brooklyn.

In their new court filing, Combs’ lawyers say they are proposing a “far more robust” bail package that would subject the entertainer to strict, around-the-clock security surveillance and near-total restrictions on his ability to contact anyone but his attorneys.

However, the amount of money they are including in the package remains $50 million, as previously proposed. They also cite new evidence that they say “makes it clear that the government’s arguments are flimsy.”

That evidence, the lawyers said, refutes the government’s contention that a March 2016 video showing Combs physically attacking his then-girlfriend took place during a forced “freak-off,” a sexually motivated incident included in the indictment against Combs is described.

They wrote that the encounter was instead “a minute-long glimpse into a complex but decades-long consensual relationship” between Combs and his then-girlfriend.

The lawyers argued that the conditions Combs endures at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn violate his constitutional right to participate in his defense.
