Lakers vs. Raptors preview: injury report, TV stream, how to watch

The Lakers will continue their three-game homestand, taking on the Toronto Raptors, who they just beat last week. This will be the last time these two teams see each other this season.

Start time and TV program

WHO: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Toronto Raptors

When: 6:30 p.m. PT, November 10th

Where: Crypto.com Arena

Regard: Spectrum SportsNet

In my last preview, I wondered how D’Angelo Russell would react if he was benched by JJ Redick and whether or not the Lakers could regroup after a nightmare of a road trip. It turned out that it was Redick who responded by replacing D’Lo in the starting unit for Cam Reddish, which led to a strong start and a win against an underperforming Sixers team.

We thank Russell for handling this quick transition professionally and the Lakers for quickly adapting. While Redick has indicated that this isn’t a permanent move, it will be fascinating to see if it stays that way on Sunday against the Raptors.

Remember, the last time LA played Toronto, the rookie coach said they had their best first half of the young season, and that was with Russell in the starting lineup.

The Raptors will face each other for the second night in a row, but the Lakers should still expect a more competitive fight from them.

For one thing, it’s never easy to beat the same team twice within a few days during the season. Second, keep in mind that this Raptors team had a strong surge late in the second half, so they may have figured something out and will most likely use it in this rematch.

It’s also worth noting that this Raptors team is a bit healthier now that Immanuel Quickley is expected to play. This is worth noting because Quickley is a fast, scoring and athletic guard who can cause problems for the Lakers’ perimeter defense.

In the first game between these two teams, Toronto also celebrated with great joy, scoring 68 of its 125 points. This was the main reason they were able to erase the Lakers’ 26-point lead.

So ideally, Los Angeles will put more pressure on the frontcourt this time around, and that will once again be on Anthony Davis’ long to-do list.

Hopefully the Lakers will come up with the right game plan and continue to make up for the horrible road trip they just had by winning this game. Their schedule has eased up a bit after a tough slate of games at the start of the year and it’s time for them to capitalize on it.

Let’s see if the Lakers can do that and stay undefeated at home.

Notes and updates

  • The Lakers’ injury report lists Anthony Davis (left plantar fasciitis) and Jaxson Hayes (left knee pain) as probable.
  • Jarred Vanderbilt (recovering from right foot surgery) and Christian Wood (recovering from left knee surgery) remain out.
  • Since the Raptors are playing in a back-to-back game, they have yet to release an injury report for tomorrow’s game. However, it’s worth noting that Quickley (right pelvic contusion) will play on Saturday against the LA Clippers. Meanwhile, Scottie Barnes (right eye socket fracture), Bruce Brown (arthroscopic right knee surgery) and Kelly Olynyk (lumbar spine strain) are out.
  • We’ll be doing live playback at this game, so be sure to join us!
