Liam Payne death: Authorities rule out suicide

What else did Liam Payne’s autopsy say?

According to the press release, medical examiners reported 25 injuries at Payne’s autopsy that were “consistent with those caused by a fall from a height.”

“They also indicated that the head injuries were sufficient to cause death,” the statement continued, “while the internal and external bleeding in the skull, chest, abdomen and limbs contributed to the mechanism of death.”

Additionally, the press release states that forensic experts found “no defense violations” following the investigation One direction alum and that “no injuries were observed that would suggest third-party intervention.”

However, questions remain unanswered – including about the condition Payne was in at the time of his fall.

“The prosecution said that given the position in which the body was left and the injuries sustained from the fall,” the statement continued, “it is believed that Payne did not adopt a reflexive posture to protect himself and that he could have fallen into a state of partial or complete unconsciousness.

As medical investigators sought further answers, they requested histopathological, biochemical and toxicological studies, the release said.

“At this time,” the release states, “analysis of stomach contents, alcohol and toxins in the blood, vitreous humor, bile, nasal swab and urine was required to determine alcohol and toxins.”

A preliminary toxicology report found that Payne had drugs in his system at the time of his death, an official with direct knowledge said The New York Times.
