Welcome to Southern California News Group’s high school football results updates for Friday, November 8th.

We’ll receive updates from across the region, including highlights from our reporters at the games.

FIRST ROUND

DEPARTMENT 1

Final: Sierra Canyon 38, Servite 14

Sierra Canyon senior running back Dane Dunn had three touchdowns. According to Jack Gillespie, Servite senior quarterback Leo Hannan (Michigan State commit) did not play. Sierra Canyon will play No. 1 Mater Dei in the CIF-Southern Section Divisino 1 quarterfinals on Nov. 15.

4. F: Santa Margarita 59, Inglewood 26

Santa Margarita quarterback John Gazzaniga rolls against Inglewood. The winner will play at St. John Bosco in the quarterfinals on November 15th.

DEPARTMENT 2

3. Question: Murrieta Valley 42, Rancho Cucamonga 28

Murrieta Valley’s Dorian Hoze has four rushing touchdowns. Murrieta Valley senior quarterback Bear Bachmeier (Stanford commit) played well. Murrieta Valley is the No. 1 seed in the Division 2 playoffs.

Rancho Cucamonga will be without receivers Daniel Wilbush and Wavie Alloway, who are serving a one-game suspension after being removed from the game following last week’s postgame incident against Damien, according to Eric-Paul Johnson.

2. F: Los Alamitos 21, Leuzinger 7

The Los Alamitos defense featured Leuzinger junior running back Journee Tonga, who ran for 2,016 yards in the regular season.

4th question: Serra 21, Downey 7

Downey junior quarterback Oscar Rios executed a trick play and scored a receiving touchdown just before halftime. Serra’s Devohn Moutra scored both first-half touchdowns for the Cavaliers.

3. F: San Clemente 35, Damien 7

San Clemente’s dual quarterback system with Jack Ferguson and Dawson Martinez has created problems for Damien’s defense. San Clemente’s defense was dominant without senior linebacker Matai Tagoa’i (USC commit), who isn’t playing opposite Damien.

Damiens Gavin Williams and Jaxson Gates will not play as they serve suspensions following a post-match altercation with Rancho Cucamonga, according to Fred Robledo. Damien will also be without running back James Taylor due to a knee injury suffered against Ayala in Week 9.

4. Question: Yorba Linda 35, Chaparral 20

2nd question: Simi Valley 28, Notre Dame 26

This is a high-scoring Division 3 first round game between No. 1 seed Simi Valley and No. 16 seed Notre Dame.

4. F: La Habra 27, Mira Costa 17

La Habra ran the ball well in the first half.

Final: Crean Lutheran 20, Millikan 17

After a controversial fumble call on a play that was a lateral pass rather than a forward pass, Crean Lutheran senior kicker Connor Stephens scored the game-winning field goal with seven seconds left. Millikan suffers a heartbreaking loss in the first round of the Division 3 playoffs for the second straight season.

Half time: Bonita 21, Cathedral 14

Bonita’s defense early in the game featured Cathedral quarterback Jaden Jefferson. The winner will face Edison in the quarterfinals next week.

4. Question: Cajon 39, Chino Hills 22

Cajon’s passing game worked well against Chino Hills.

DEPARTMENT 4

4th question: Redondo 7, Thomas Aquinas 6

Redondo junior quarterback Cole Leinart (SMU commit) tries to lead his team to victory.

Halftime: Apple Valley 21, Charter Oak 0

Halftime: Capistrano Valley 14, Culver City 13

Both quarterbacks played well in the first half.

3. Question: Long Beach Poly 22, Northview 7

Poly scored 22 unanswered points. The last time Poly was in the Division 4 playoffs in 2021, they won the program’s 20th CIF-SS title.

4. Question: Thousand Oaks 14, St. Paul 10

Thousand Oaks’ Jackson Taylor threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Carson Lewis to make the lead 14-10. The winner will face El Modena in the quarterfinals next week.

DEPARTMENT 5

4. F: Huntington Beach 42, Western 27

Huntington Beach quarterback Brady Edmunds had three touchdown passes in the first half. Western senior receiver JJ Amezcua had 12 receptions for 145 receiving yards in the first half. Huntington Beach is the No. 1 seed in the Division 5 playoffs.

3rd question: Summit 20, Torrance 7

Summit entered the playoffs on a seven-game winning streak.

3rd question: La Serna 14, Troy 7

La Serna quarterback Grady Long threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Zeb Bontempts with 9:43 left in the third quarter.

4. F: Lakewood 50, Valencia 26

4. Question: Mayfair 30, Trabuco Hills 23

Mayfair senior quarterback Jeremiah Calvin has three touchdown passes.

3. Question: Brea Olinda 10, Palos Verdes 10

Palos Verdes quarterback Ryan Rakowski scored a gutsy 1-yard touchdown run with 7:30 left in the third quarter.

DEPARTMENT 6

Half time: Schurr 13, Muir 12

Muir is the No. 1 seed in the Division 6 playoffs.

3rd question: St. Francis 36, Calabasas 15

St. Francis defense plays against Calabasas.

3. F: Northwood 27, Ayala 7

Northwood’s defense causes havoc against Ayala.

DEPARTMENT 7

3. Question: West Torrance 21, West Valley 14

West Torrance is the No. 1 seed in the Division 7 playoffs.

DEPARTMENT 9

4. Question: Wilson 35, Victor Valley 13

Wilson senior running back Deuce Weston made the difference in this game. This is Wilson’s first playoff appearance since 2019.

DEPARTMENT 10

3. Question: St. Anthony 17, South Hills 7

St. Anthony kicker Christian Martin hit a 38-yard field goal to give the Saints a 17-7 lead with 6:45 left in the third quarter. St. Anthony is the No. 1 seed in the Division 10 playoffs.

2. F: La Canada 3, Pacifica 0

This is a defensive battle in the first half.

4. Question: Valley View 25, Moreno Valley 3

Valley View’s offense was in full swing in the first half.

2nd question: Canyon Springs 35, Banning 0
