Lori Loughlin’s first movie after prison is now on Netflix

Now that Halloween is over, there are a number of winter and holiday movies on Netflix – including Lori Loughlin’s first film since her time in prison for her involvement in the college admissions scandal.

Lori Loughlin’s return to acting after the college admissions scandal

Although Loughlin has not returned to Hallmark, where she starred in the popular series When Calls the Heart for several years, she returned to acting following her release from federal prison in December 2020.

About a year after serving a two-month prison sentence, Loughlin landed her role as Abigail Stanton in “When Hope Calls,” a spinoff of the Great American Family series “When Calls the Heart,” the Deseret News previously reported.

Loughlin’s other appearances on the Great American Family Network since then have included the film “Fall Into Winter,” which first aired in January 2023 and is her first film post-prison, and “Blessings of Christmas,” which premiered last November.

According to Parade, “Blessings of Christmas” was reportedly inspired by Loughlin’s real-life volunteer experience with Project Angel Food.

For the community service that was part of her plea in the college admissions scandal, Loughlin, who served as an executive producer on the film, contributed 100 hours to Project Angel Food, Entertainment Tonight reported.

Lori Loughlin’s film Fall into Winter is now on Netflix

“Fall into Winter” has already made it into the top 10 Netflix films since its release at the beginning of November.

In the romantic comedy, Loughlin plays Kerry, a woman who must work with Brooks (James Tupper) – an old friend of her brother’s who was her high school nemesis – when he unexpectedly buys his way into her family-owned candy store, according to a description on IMDb.

Early on, Brooks’ business-oriented nature and focus on the bottom line clashes with the small-town charm that has surrounded Kerry her entire life.

“I think viewers will love the love story,” Loughlin said said in a video before the film’s release last year. “And it’s a feel-good film. I think it’s nice to sit back and watch something with the whole family. It puts a smile on your face.”

Despite its popularity on Netflix, the film is not very popular on Rotten Tomatoes, with a rating of 33%.

What else is Lori Loughlin up to?

According to IMDb, Loughlin hasn’t acted much since her two films last year.

Earlier this year, according to The Hollywood Reporter, she appeared as herself in an episode of the 12th and final season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” in which she was a golfer banned from Los Angeles-area country clubs due to the college admissions scandal became. After a speech inspired by the Gettysburg Address, Larry David succeeds in convincing Loughlin to join.

“In joining this arc, Loughlin not only appears to have a good sense of humor, she’s also in on the joke,” wrote Jackie Strause for The Hollywood Reporter.

“It’s great to be able to laugh at yourself. It’s a great way to put the past behind you,” “Curb” executive producer Jeff Schaffer told The Hollywood Reporter. “I hope it helps her career. She was great and she should work. It was really fun and she was wonderful to work with. People should see, ‘Oh, she’s really funny.’ She’s great in that area.” So yeah, I hope she puts in the work because she deserves it.”
