Man arrested for drug possession after cops found him with a minor in a parking lot hours later

According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, a 21-year-old Palm Coast man was arrested on drug charges after officers found him with a teenage girl in a park after closing time on Nov. 5.

Officers on patrol at River to Sea Preserve Park on North Ocean Shore Boulevard spotted a vehicle parked in the parking lot after hours. Inside they found 21-year-old Oleg Brewton and a 16-year-old girl. When questioned, the teen said they were in the park taking photos with balloons for Brewton’s birthday.

While speaking with the teen, an officer noticed a burned stump on the floorboard of the vehicle. During a search of the car, officers discovered three plastic bags containing methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana.

Brewton was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of methamphetamine
  • Possession of cocaine
  • Possession of cannabis less than 20 grams
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

He was lodged at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Center and later released on bail.

The 16-year-old was released to her father, who said he didn’t know where his daughter was or who she was with at the time.

“Parents, be the sheriff of your home,” Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly said in a statement. “Know who your children are with and where they are before something bad happens. Luckily, our proactive staff found them and got this poison off the streets.”

Sheriff Staly added that Brewton’s “birthday present” was a “free ride to the Green Roof Inn” in one of the department’s patrol cars.
