Man ejected and killed in rollover crash south of Canyon

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – Officials say a man was ejected and killed in a rollover accident on US 87, six miles south of Canyon, today.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, 49-year-old Albert Herrera of Happy, Texas, drove his F-250 off the highway around 1:09 a.m. and crashed into the median.

While trying to get back onto the highway, Herrera overcorrected, causing his truck to skid sideways and roll over.

Herrera was ejected from the truck because he was not wearing a seatbelt. He was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

According to DPS, alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident.

The crash is still under investigation.
