Man killed in crash in Lincoln County

LINCOLNTON, NC (WBTV) – One person is dead in a late morning crash in Lincoln County.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers said the crash occurred around 11:20 a.m. Nov. 6 on Salem Church Road near Salem Avenue.

According to police, 31-year-old Dominique Devon Morrison was traveling north on Salem Church Road when he lost control and went off the right side of the road. He then went left, crashed into a fence and collided with a tree. Officers said he was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected.

Morrison was killed at the scene.

Police said excessive speed appeared to be a factor in the accident.

Salem Church Road was closed in the area for approximately two hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
