Marvel is reportedly bringing back the one actor we thought would never return

Marvel Studios can move mountains. Okay, maybe not literally; But metaphorically speaking, the studio can move any mountains it wants. They are single-handedly responsible for producing the most successful feature film franchise of all time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (which has grossed over $30 billion across its 34 films), and it’s still going strong.

The current multiverse saga continues to surprise people as the MCU has managed to successfully use the concept to bring back classic actors to portray popular roles (Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men ) and make some dream fan casting a reality (John Krasinski as Reed Richards from the Fantastic Four) by interacting with some of the most popular and current characters in their own franchise.

It’s like watching the past, present, and future collide all at once, and that’s part of the Marvel magic that truly proves that the franchise can make the impossible possible. Reports say it tried again another time and couldn’t quite get it to work, but new reports suggest it’s trying to try again. And it’s really quite crazy.

According to Marvel Scooper MyTimeToShineHelloMarvel Studios is currently actively talking to Nicolas Cage about a possible return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Ghost Rider. The legendary film star had previously played the role in non-MCU projects and fans wondered if he could be one of the Multiverse Saga’s many returnees. It sounds like it’s still a possibility.

Cage portrayed the Johnny Blaze version of the character in two projects that debuted in 2007 Ghost Rider and returns in the 2011 sequel The spirit of vengeance. Although the films were not particularly well received critically, they were successful at the box office (particularly the first one) and have since developed a cult following, particularly because they helped introduce the character to a wider audience. As always, Nicolas Cage was praised by fans for his committed performance.

Since then, there has been a desire for Nicolas Cage to return to the role in some capacity. The reason it seemed unlikely to happen in the MCU is simply because it almost happened (recently, in fact), but the stars just didn’t align for Ghost Rider’s involvement in the franchise.

Nicolas Cage promotes Ghost Rider, Marvel

Ryan Reynolds recently revealed on Entertainment Weekly’s Awardist podcast that it’s an early draft of this year’s project Deadpool and Wolverine Both Cage’s Ghost Rider and Ben Affleck’s Daredevil starred in it. Neither worked out, but Reynolds spoke about his eagerness to make the Ghost Rider gig happen, revealing that he had actually spoken to Cage about it, adding, “We tried to get him, but he was a no.” -Go… I would.” I loved him.

The fact that Marvel may be trying to get him to appear in a follow-up project is pretty exciting and once again shows the limitless possibilities of the multiverse saga. In both cases there are rumors of a multiversal battle Avengers: End of the World or Avengers: Secret Warsit’s entirely possible that he’ll appear in one of them.

What’s even more ironic about all of this is that Cage recently appeared in another multiversal film to “reprise” a role that made him something of a cult following. It was released in 2023 The lightning for DC via a CGI cameo in which he portrayed an alternate version of Superman – a return to the unmade Superman is alive 1990s film in which he almost played the role.

Will he do the same thing again in the MCU with Ghost Rider? We can certainly hope!
