Doctor Doom has been a near-ubiquitous character in the Marvel Universe for decades, with his first appearance taking place back in the 1962s Fantastic four #5 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. While Doctor Doom has long coveted the title of Sorcerer Supreme, he has spent most of his comics career never actually achieving it. That was until the events of Marvel recently came to an end Blood Hunt Crossover event in which Doctor Strange reluctantly passed the mantle to his old adversary to save the world from the endless night and the swarms of vampires that had consumed it.

The events of “Ride Over” tie in directly to the events of Marvel Comics’ upcoming “The Eight Deaths of Spider-Man” story. The Eight Deaths of Spider-Man was announced back in July and will be written by Joe Kelly and Justina Ireland. The storyline will also feature an all-star cast of artists including Ed McGuinness and Gleb Melnikov. “The Eight Deaths of Spider-Man” was originally revealed in Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #0 in a backstory by Joe Kelly, Emilio Laiso and Rachelle Rosenberg, in which Khonshu experienced a decidedly frustrating encounter with the infamous Cyttorak, which ended with a cutaway to Spider-Man and Spider-Boy swinging over the New York City skyline before a full moon.
