Mattel apologizes after accidentally printing a porn site on the packaging of its “Wicked” movie dolls

Toy maker Mattel has apologized after accidentally printing the web address of a pornographic website on the packaging of its newly launched Wicked dolls.

Instead of directing readers to the official website of the film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical, information on the special edition dolls’ boxes leads to a page that requires users to be at least 18 years old, according to social media users on X.

“Mattel has been made aware of a printing error on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls, sold primarily in the United States, that was intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page,” the company said in a statement on Sunday statement sent to CNN.

“We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy the situation. Parents are advised that the misprinted and incorrect website is not suitable for children,” it said.

People who have already purchased the dolls are advised to discard the packaging or cover the link, Mattel added.

The highly anticipated two-parter “Wicked,” starring singer Ariana Grande and Oscar-nominated actress Cynthia Erivo, is an adaptation of the famed Broadway musical. The story is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz and tells an alternate version of the events before Dorothy Gale’s arrival.

Part one of “Wicked” hits theaters on November 22nd. The second film is expected in November 2025.
