Memorial services throughout the Channel Islands

People across the Channel Islands gathered to mark Remembrance Sunday with church services and parades.

Islanders came together at a series of events and held a two-minute silence at 11:00 GMT to pay their respects to those who served during the world wars and other conflicts.

St Ouen in Jersey was one of the locations where a service was held, with members of the community, including the Sea Scouts, laying poppy wreaths at the war memorial.

A parade was also held in St Peter Port from the fire station to Smith Street, with bagpipers leading the procession before wreaths were laid at the town’s war memorial.

A service was also held in St Helier at which poppies were laid at the town’s cenotaph, and a parade was held in Alderney to mark the occasion.

Ports of Jersey posted on Facebook it would observe the two-minute silence on Sunday and Monday.

It said: “All members of our Ports of Jersey community will pause for quiet reflection.”

Sports teams also celebrated Remembrance Sunday with a contribution from Guernsey FC his Facebook page A two-minute silence was held before the women’s team’s game against St. Peter’s in Jersey.
