A 22-year-old Berkeley, Missouri, man was sentenced to one year and one day in prison for firearm possession and forged identification after a violent road rage incident. U.S. District Judge Matthew T. Schelp announced the sentence in St. Louis.

The man, identified as Donnovan Mallen, originally from Mexico, will be deported after serving his sentence.

Mallen’s guilty plea, filed in August, detailed the events of February 26, 2021, when he was on his way to work in St. Charles, Missouri, when he encountered a vehicle that was following him and fired four shots at him. In response, Mallen admitted to firing a shot into the air. Law enforcement officers discovered a loaded 10mm semi-automatic pistol under the passenger seat of his Dodge Charger, whose rear window was also shattered. Authorities also recovered a fake permanent resident card and a Social Security card that were in Mallen’s possession.

Mallen pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to unlawful entry and unlawful possession of a firearm by an illegal immigrant.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations and the St. Charles Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney J. Christian Goeke.
