Michigan vs Indiana live stream, where to watch, TV channel, kick-off time, odds, spread, prediction, picks

Michigan looks to spoil a magical season against No. 8 Indiana in a Big Ten matchup on Saturday. This will be the 73rd meeting between the two teams, but the first in which Indiana is ranked in the AP Top 25 and Michigan is unranked. The Hoosiers also earned a spot in the top 10 of the inaugural College Football Playoff rankings, while the Wolverines were left out.

While the dynamic feels different in this contest, Michigan has been dominant against its former Big Ten East opponent this century. The Wolverines are on a three-game winning streak in this series, and their 52-7 win last season was their biggest win over Indiana since 2000.

Michigan has won 28 of its last 29 meetings against Indiana. The Hoosiers last beat Michigan in 2020 and finished 6-2 in a shortened season. According to DraftKings, Indiana enters the game as a 14-point betting favorite. It is the first time since 1968 that Indiana is favored over Michigan. The Wolverines won that game 27-22. If Indiana triumphs on Saturday, it would be only the third win against Michigan since 1971.

It would also be a huge boon for Indiana’s College Football Playoff hopes, as a win against the defending national champions – even if they’re in a bit of a bind – would still resonate. According to DrafKings Sportsbook, the Hoosiers currently have a -220 bet to make the CFP.

Michigan vs. Indiana: Need to know

Putting Indiana’s run in context: The work that Curt Cignetti has done so far is nothing short of miraculous. The Hoosiers are 9-0 for the first time in program history and have a chance to secure the program’s first 10-win season this weekend. They are the only Big Ten team without a 10-win season. Indiana has already matched its win total from the last three seasons and is the first FBS team in 50 years to start 9-0 after winning just nine games in the previous three years. Indiana also posted the largest year-over-year improvement in points per game (plus 40.6) of any FBS team over the past half-century.

Michigan is trending in the opposite direction: Michigan is going the other direction. At 5-4, Michigan already has more losses than in 2021-23 combined (three). The Wolverines are the first team since 2012 (TCU) to lose at least four games in a single season after losing less than four games in the last three seasons combined. Michigan’s 38-17 loss to Oregon in Week 10 was its most lopsided since a 23-point loss to Georgia in the 2021 College Football Playoff semifinals. Michigan is also trying to avoid its first five-loss season since 2017, and if If it loses this Saturday, it will tie LSU in 2020 for the worst win percentage by a reigning national champion in 70 years.

Michigan OL will have its hands full: For all of Michigan’s problems passing the ball, the Wolverines can usually guard against a strong rush. That hasn’t been the case recently. Michigan’s offense, which has suffered a litany of injuries this year, has struggled to create running lanes in recent games. The Wolverines managed just 105 rushing yards as a team against Oregon, with only 68 yards coming from the running backs. It was their third straight game with fewer than 150 yards on the ground. Now they must face an Indiana defensive front that not only holds their opponents to just over 72 yards rushing per game, but also boasts the best pass rusher in the Big Ten. Hoosiers Lead: Mikail Kamara currently leads the Big Ten with 9.5 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss. He also leads the FBS with 45 quarterback tackles. His 9.5 sacks are the most in nine games for a Big Ten edge rusher since Chase Young had 13.5 in 2019.

Michigan vs. Indiana prediction, tips

Indiana is real. The Hoosiers faced their first real adversity (other than briefly losing quarterback Kurtis Rourke to injury) when they fell 10-0 to Michigan State early in Week 10, trailing for the first time all season. They then stole 47 unanswered points and secured their ninth double-digit win of the year. The law of averages says that Indiana will eventually hit the brink. It won’t be this week. Michigan is on the rise and its struggling offense won’t be able to keep up, especially since Indiana has the Big Ten’s best rush defense. Pick: Indiana -14 (-110)
