Mike Tyson goes wild in open training for fight against Jake Paul

Mike Tyson rolled back the years with an aggressive approach in his open training for Friday’s fight with Jake Paul, to the delight of fans in attendance.

The former heavyweight champion, 58, will box against 27-year-old YouTube star Paul this week at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas. In an unprecedented move, the fight will be broadcast live on Netflix.

And ahead of the controversial bout – Tyson’s first professional contest since 2005 – “Iron Mike” and Paul took to the ring at the Toyota Music Factory to show off some moves for fans.

Many videos of Tyson hitting the pads have gone viral in recent years, with viewers often noting that the American’s speed and power remained intact.

And those traits came to the fore at times during Tuesday’s open practice, with Tyson throwing most of his jabs and often leaning his pad man on the ropes to throw combinations.

However, the pair didn’t always seem to be on the same page, and Tyson occasionally appeared to throw different combinations than those called for.

It might have been the volume of the music at the Toyota Music Factory, but the fans in attendance seemed to appreciate Tyson’s efforts.

When Tyson was then asked what he learned about himself during his training camp, he said: “That I’m tougher than I thought I was, because when I agreed to this fight and started training, I was like, ‘What the fuck?’ ?’ * am I thinking of?’ But now that I’ve completed the process, the fight is the party.”

Later that evening, Paul did his own open workout before saying he felt “sharp, powerful, explosive.” He promised: “It will be a short night for Mike.

“It’s not about how long you’ve been doing something, it’s about how well you do it. On Friday people will see me take out the person who has been doing this their whole life. Friday my dreams come true and my career begins […] I’m going to knock out Mike Tyson.”

The YouTube star has a record of 10-1 (7 knockouts) as a professional boxer, with wins over numerous MMA fighters and lesser-known boxers.
