Millions of Verizon customers in New York, DC and Boston are reporting service outages

Verizon customers across the East Coast were affected by service outages.

Tens of thousands of Verizon customers reported an outage early Tuesday morning, Down Detector shows. According to the website, the hardest-hit regions include Philadelphia, Boston, Baltimore, New York City and Washington, D.C. However, customers in 45 cities reported outages, according to Outage.Report.

The company announced this The Independent in a statement: “A network issue disrupted service for a short period of time for some Verizon Fios customers in the Northeast early this morning. Once the issue was identified, our engineering teams quickly restored service.”

Reports of outages came in shortly after midnight. While 52 percent reported problems with 5G internet, 33 percent reported problems with landlines and 15 percent reported complete power outages.

The issue appears to have been resolved just before 4 a.m., Outage.Report shows.
