Mizzou coach Eli Drinkwitz shoots Bob Stoops, OU football

COLUMBIA, Missouri – Eli Drinkwitz keeps receipts.

After No. 24 Missouri’s 30-23 win over Oklahoma on Saturday night, Drinkwitz called out former OU football coach Bob Stoops for his preseason comments. Stoops told ESPN’s Jake Trotter: “We beat Missouri hands down. “Suddenly we’re supposed to be afraid of them now?”

“This is going to be really disappointing for Bob Stoops,” Drinkwitz said after the game. “But OU doesn’t always whip Missouri’s ass anymore.

“…felt pretty good. I think Coach Stoops did a good job of turning heads this summer, you know? I thought their coaches did a few things this summer that felt like they, you know, spiced things up a little bit with a few tweets and things.”

The Sooners and Tigers resumed a long-standing Big 12 matchup on Saturday.

After Saturday, OU now holds a record of 67-25-5 against Missouri. The Sooners dominated the Tigers during the Big 12 era, winning eight of 10 contests.

Former OU receiver Theo Wease caught four passes for a game-leading 70 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Missouri offensive lineman Cayden Green, also an OU transfer, was very active after games, chatting with the Sooner defensive linemen.

Rivalry renewed.

“Our guys were ready,” Drinkwitz said.
